Scope of practice
As a Physiatrist and Interventional Pain Specialist, Dr. Joiner has four years of post-graduate training, including a year of General Surgery and three years of specialty training. He is board certified in physiatry and interventional pain practice.
He also has advanced training, having earned distinction as a Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice, achieved by a select few physicians worldwide.
Diagnosis and treatment
Dr. Joiner may supplement the standard history and physical examination and further evaluate neuromuscular function with the use of electrodi-agnostic medicine evaluation, such as electromy-ography (EMG), nerve conduction studies (NCV), and evoked potentials (EP), diagnostic ultrasound, X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans, as well as diagnostic and therapeutic blocks.
Dr. Joiner is skilled not only in the use of drug therapies but also in the use of physi-cal modalities such as heat, cold, electrotherapies, light, therapeutic exercise, traction, massage and manipulation. He also is trained in the pre-scription of artificial limbs, braces, wheelchairs and other adaptive devices.
Dr. Joiner is one of a unique group of select physicians worldwide who have become certified Fellows of Interventional Pain Practice and is board certified in Interventional Pain Practice through the World Institute of Pain.
As such, he is proficient and uniquely trained to perform the most technically up to date, minimally invasive procedures to alleviate pain in his state-of-the-art suite.
